The ZA Magnette was launched at the London Motor Show in October 1953. It was designed by Gerald Palmer, MG's Chief Designer , by that time part of the Nuffield Group. Its high-grade specification included fog lights, stylish walnut interior, leather seats and a heater. Its performance attracted sales to various Police forces and our version is modelled on the vehicles used within the Northumberland County Constabulary. The force became the Northumberland Constabulary in 1969, which doubled in strength, following the absorption of the Newcastle-upon-Tyne City Police and Tynemouth Borough Police authorities.
