This modern coach embodies two famous names in the industry. Plaxton is synonymous with bus and coach building since the company was founded in 1907 by Frederick William Plaxton. They still operate from their Eastfield Works on the Seamer Road, in Scarborough where they remained a family firm until being bought by Alexander Dennis in 2007. National Express, the nationwide UK transport company, found its roots as a brand in 1972, bringing together many independent travel providers under the National Express name, since when they have acquired numerous transport companies including bus, coach, rail and tram services. Today, National Express operates not only through the UK but also overseas, where its operations extend as far as the USA and Canada.
The Elite is Plaxton's flagship coach, decorated in the signature red, white and blue National Express livery, operated by Selwyns Travel Ltd, Runcorn, Cheshire. This model has the registration YN10 FKV .
Look out for YN10 FK V on the No. 505 service to London. You may have even travelled on it!
