Volvo FH D-TEC CombiTrailer - Norfolkline
D-TEC trailers were founded in 1959 by Jan van Vlastuin - an established stove-maker in Maarsbergen. His company developed over the years making semi-finished products, notably for the car transporter industry. It was only a short step from there to the production of the patented CombiTrailer - a unique transport solution.
The CombiTrailer is a separable trailer, enabling companies to transport 30ft, 40ft and two 20-foot trailers as one. As well as being able to access the front and back container if necessary. The vehicle can be split into two to transport one 20 ft trailer, leaving the second one behind.
This model is in the well known livery of Norfolkline, which also had its roots in the Netherlands. The company was founded in 1961 by a Dutch entrepeneur Mr Reemus, under the name Norfolk Lijn NV. Operations centred on traffic between Holland and Norfolk in the UK - hence the name, acquiring a Ro-Ro service vessel in 1969. In 1974, he sold the business to Unilever who have expanded it over the years into rail freight, refrigerated transport and container transport. It also launched a new ferry route between Dover and Dunkerque in 2000. In 2008, Norfolkline was voted the Best Ferry Company at the Guardian, Observer and guardian.co.uk Travel Awards.
Our model is skeletal trailer only and does not come with containers.
